Our practice, which is often community based, aims at setting up new social ecosystems. By revolving around the mechanisms and context by which power creates systems of value, we seek to intervene on the border between art and current topics of contemporary life in order to bring about the proposition of the transitory and the Utopian.

Art is a tool for change and a tool for marginal groups to give alternative perspectives on the general consensus of society, whether local or global. We think the Western world has tried for too long to impose its perspective on everything on everybody. It is about time that we stopped being so Eurocentric and embraced heterogeneity. The central difference between the western and vast parts of non- western thought is the linear idea of time that we’ve developed here and the cyclic worldview of the East. It’s important to understand that everything is interconnected and therefore we must make an effort to create a responsible culture.
Like many other artworks ours balance between a form of criticism and parody of criticism to enter into an open dialog with the people experiencing them. We are trying to balance what is seen and what is understood. Our work is not meant as an attack but more as a means of negotiation of the individual’s reality here and now; a reality where the work of art is a sign-device caught between a certain mode of representation and a different mode of interpretation. Both representation and interpretation would in the contemporaneity of the work be situated in the context of our hierarchical and violent time.
Inside the contextualization of our art practice our work has been governed by sound. We investigate various sound processes that lead us to develop our practice in sound experimentation as a resource for the realization of sound installations, live performance, interventions and objects. Our field of work effects from composition to sound objection format to visualize the work.

Most of our projects have been created in the urban space, a situation where we use as sound interventions to raise other symbolic and emotional values around the metropolitan area. We use this juxtaposition soundscape through the implementation of digital sounds to deconstruct and transform the situation by creating a transparent virtual sound reality. The work is done with an anthropological character with the idea of creating new environments for the emergence of the question of how the individual takes their involvement in the actual social relations. The visual aspects of sound listening interventions, that we are working on is given by the imagination of the person in your mental space to create virtual images.

kitchen dialogues, 2013-till now

Through the ongoing series of Kitchen Dialogue we are working with social interventions — that are at the same time a critical practice — operating via social research, site-specific installations and a series of social events and dialogues triggered by conviviality. We investigate our rooted social acts and habits, and question if we could act otherwise in social ways.

Kitchen dialogues B&B, 2015

Bed & breakfast is another event of Kitchen Dialogues project, that took place in MeetFactory in collaboration with the 2015 Prague Quadrennial. Creating a social and cultural environment in our 100 square meter studio with modules/bedrooms built with recycled wood made it unique, warm and cozy, without forgetting all modern amenities. We offered accommodation to registered guests (max 12 per night) between 18th and 28th of June free of charge. During 9 days we have hosted a total of 59 guests that stayed between 1 night and 1 week of period each. We had the pleasure to accommodate guests from all around Europe and oversees.

Afterlife, 2015

Afterlife, proof of life after death and other related critical concepts, such as the purpose of life and reincarnation of overproduction of food from supermarkets. The project offers the possibility to use expired food in energy production. As part of our process, we developed a pilot project where we observed that fruits and vegetables produce small amounts of electricity through an electrochemical reaction. This was achieved by inserting two different types of metal, copper and zinc, in each of the fruits in the installation. These fruits produce small amounts of electricity when they are connected in series and operate a small screen. From this moment our focus was aimed at finding ways of putting conservation of energy into practice; this is first law of thermodynamics, which states that energy can not be created or destroyed, only transferred from one form to another. Thus, our installation is also a way to visualize an analogue synthesis, where energy is transferred from fruit and vegetables to small plasma screen, creating a symbiosis. The installation is conceived as a social critique of the existing consumer society and a proposal for an alternative and further use of fruit and vegetables, which are regarded as superfluous and unsellable by supermarket chains.

Morning Glory, 2015

part of Kitchen Dialogues series: "More than supra/ a draft prepared for failure" or more popularly called "Morning Glory" is community related project that took form through a series of morning activities where we invited the audience to dance and have breakfast before starting the working day. Following the idea of creating a social space outside of consumption, where people could meet, experience, undertake an activity without need of money, we re-appropriate our self of a popular phenomenon of the breakfast club/ morning glory. These early morning events took place during the whole duration of the Triennial (twice a week/ 7 events). Free-form dance exercise, through listening to electronic music stimulated by local DJ curated by @Dot followed by breakfast.

Superfluous Identity IV, 2015

SUPERFLUOUS IDENTITY IV exhibited at Babel is part of a series of site-specific installations with the same title that examine the effects of the capitalist system and its impact on the individual. As a monstrous organism the installation unfolds throughout the rooms of Babel. Sound, objects and visual elements intertwine to encapsulate the viewer into this strange, superfluous identity with “pictographed” heartbeats via the cardiogram-like black tape stripes at the floor and the filtered soundscape.

Superfluous Identity III, 2015

The current dominant economic model has, particularly in the last decade, has proved to be a heavy-footed, exhausted juggernaut... former strength and stability, but also decay and disintegration of something that is trying to sustain in its last race.

Yes, I can (not), 2014

The creation of the work "Yes, I can (not)" is generated by two unilateral perspectives on power politics in the global financial system. The first perspective deals on a personal level with the institutional relationship to the social talk, in a context that defines the identity of artists compared with the curator, the gallerist and academic institution. The second perspective examines the political dialogue issued for public comment in relation to the global monetary system as the crisis facing what are the consequences on the lives of workers. The installation is presented as a space of dialogue between questionable dictation: microphones in the gallery are positioned in representative form of nesting of the power through the alteration of the functionality of the microphones on tripods. The microphones are used as speakers and spreading an audio recording of a voice pronouncing the verb of the power in affirmative and negative forms in all persons singular and plural, omitting only the first person singular. The tripods for sustaining the microphones are positioned 2 meters and 25 cm high respectively facing the viewer.

1000 bottles of tap water, 2016

Norway has the second best quality of tap water in the world, provided for its citizens. A few years ago, a report on Norwegian television questioned the source of water used by the luxury bottled Voss brand. Supposedly these uniquely designed bottles are filled with water from the urban network, the same one that caters the city of Iceland. 1000 bottles of tap water; Intends to generate, for a limited period of time, a social ecosystem outside of everyday consumption. The intervention will be carried through the re-appropriation of a common consumer product; bottled water. Handcrafted tap water will be bottled, to explore the concept of Utopia and setting a value of transition from the current power in the economic sphere. The intervention provides 1000 free water bottles filled from Oslo tap water to people circulating in the surroundings of the central train station in Oslo.

We are interested in the present, the now and there within society, the place we occupy in it as individuals.

Regarding narrative and aesthetic aspects, we lose ourselves and find us again at frontiers, many times we work outside the box, outside classifications, resulting in a multidisciplinary work, distant from usual genres.

We like the multidisciplinary. It defines us. We work from various artistic disciplines, using very different techniques in each new project, always related with the investigation we are undertaking. That's why we like and need to be surrounded by collaborators from different artistic and non-artistic disciplines, to contribute with their different points of view, that enrich the creative work. This multidisciplinary exchange makes us reconsider our work from very different perspectives, that many times are surprisingly unimaginable for us.

One day we met accidentally, a stage director, bored of established cliches and a video-artist, tired of the fake real-time/liveness. An illustrator and a light designer that enjoy generating sonic worlds. Both concerned with the immediate, and the social. Each investigating in different ways how to reach the audience, how to touch their hears and make them think. Thrilled by the sites-specific aspects, land art, video art, site responsive and context specific, augmented reality, sensors, soundscapes... and low-tec...

Passionate about the world we live in, though we often quarrel with it, we are just creating out third jioint project. It couldn't be in another way.

1985, b. in Campinas/Brazil. Lives and works in Belo Horizonte/Brazil. His main subject of interest is space and its ways of production. In investigating this process, Luis considers art as an institutionalized platform to confront scientific thinking – especially geography, anthropology, architecture and urbanism. Despite working with a wide range of media, he is first and foremost in an ongoing research on drawing. He considers the medium of drawing, with its particular action strategies and forms of achieving knowledge, as a powerful tool to turn visible the relation between body, space and landscape.

Joaquín Segura‘s practice meditates on the phenomenology of violence, sociopolitical microclimates, asymmetrical history and the current role of ideology. Major concerns addressed in recent projects revolve around the nature of power, identity in an age of particular instability and the ontological significance of dissent and failure, here and now.

One of the most prominent Mexican artists of his generation, his work has been shown in Mexico and internationally since the early 2000s. It has been widely reviewed and featured on major art publications & newspapers such as Flash Art, Adbusters, Art Papers, Codigo, Art Nexus, Artillery, Discipline, Celeste & The Washington Post, among many others. In 2008/09, Segura was an artist-in-residence at the International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York, NY and at the 18th Street Arts Center, Santa Monica, CA. Between 2012 and 2017, he undertook artistic residencies and research stays at Hangar –Centre de Producció i Recerca d‘Arts Visuals (Barcelona, Spain), MeetFactory – International Center of Contemporary Art (Prague, Czech Republic), Impakt Foundation (Utrecht, Netherlands) and Casa Wabi (Oaxaca, Mexico). He’s a founding member and board advisor of SOMA, Mexico City.

2017 Seoul Art Space Geumcheon 8thOpen Studio Exhibition Back to Marginality
by Exhibition Curator Sewon OH

Back to Marginalityis a report on Seoul Art Space Geumcheon's art ecosystem that crosses the boundaries, dissolves a center, and shows its capacity as marginal existence. Through the experiment on the boundaries and art practice by the artists, this exhibition will show the power and various values of ochlos. Ochlos is an alienated remnant that is not integrated with a social system and a huge latent that moves history at the same time. As the social anxieties in Korea are somewhat relieved, the marginal individuals that have become stronger in the process try to make them free from the community influenced too much by ideology and go back to practicing individuals, and recover the meaning and emotion of the marginalized life with various values. They work on the boundaries and surroundings, firmly confronting the otherization and alienation and caring the people that are affected by such phenomena. As a result, they can show their virtue and sublimity with diversity and flexibility.

Many people in Korea experienced helplessness, anger, and sense of defeat in the last few years, and suffered from collective trauma of miscommunications, recession, and unfairness. Art world was not an exception from the misery dominating the society for some time, too. Nevertheless, we have shown the power of the people against the government through the candlelight rallies, and now we are facing another phase. Again, the artists go back to marginality that shows the alienated ochlos and is armed with various values as a redundant existence. The marginality that internalizes the situational values shows the signifying works that are scattered here and there in the meantime. And it also shows forward-looking sentiment that can regenerate various values of life. Furthermore, it points out the communication gap and the inherent contradictions within the system through helplessness and loneliness of the alienated existence.

Now, the artists are set to recover the injured individuals. They show the experiment that is different from segmentation and authoritarian integration of art through aesthetic practices with various values alienated from the social and cultural system. Lina Younes, Park Kyung jin, Chen Chen-Yu, Lee Won ho, and Chun Jae yong get together in the Warehouse to make a theatrical, romantic momentum different from life. They navigate the boundaries between a community and an individual in the social system, and they experiment, borrow, and violate the cultural distortions, prejudices and customs on things and events occurred at the boundaries. Chen Chen-Yu explores the boundaries between post-truth and truth in The Fall, The Crash, The Series, and Park Kyung jin and Lee Won ho search the non-centralized aesthetic values through their sideline production process and labor. Meanwhile, Chun Jae yong defies the symbol of authority in avant-garde style. And Lina Younes presents a sensuous and fantastic shadow puppetry as the opening performance in this Open Studio in collaboration with a musician Jimmy Sert.

In the exhibition hall, you can hear the rhapsody consisted of impromptu but diverse values. Kang Suki Seokyeong and Cho Jai young show variations extending area and dissolving the privileged status of each area on the border between painting, sculpture, and language. Radicant tries to extend our sense through a photographic punctum and bizzare imaginary existence. Kook Dong wan and Jeong Ju won show the thought of an individual that repeats the cycle of desire and its frustration through boundary experiment between consciousness and non-consciousness. Ah-Bin Shim hides an aesthetic pleasure within the light-hearted humor triggered by ''moderate'' violation of the boundaries between inner side and social conflict. On the contrary, Park Hyung guen exposes the irregularities of the system that tenselessly removes the differences existed among various values through the photographic works about the forest inhaling an eternity.

Apart from the exhibition hall, Elisa Strinna navigates the essence of life through ambiguous cohabitation of virtual reality and real reality by cross editing the alleys of Hanok Village and video games. Park Chung ki recalls the cultural memory that is not resolved from the outrageous things and events occurred within the community under the fierce conflict by collectively playing the short films in the projection room. Lastly, David Crespo that has explored the aesthetic values of popular culture and mania on the edge of alienated culture now shows the images collected during the stay in the residency through DJing.

Seoul Art Space Geumcheon has played a significant role in supporting artistic creations for the past nine years, and the artists hugely contributed to such result. They side with ochlos that is the subject of history, event, and emancipation and sensed a marginal existence free from a center. In addition, they made it possible for diversity to have a meaning in a social context by showing the flexible aesthetic values of life. The artists of the 8thOpen Studio spent a lot of time, musing on their works in Seoul Art Space Geumcheon over the course of the year. This exhibition will become the resulting product that can provide the audience with enjoyment, recovery, and comfort through practice reflecting public sentiment and pursuing the forgotten public interests in our society. We hope that Back to Marginalitywill be the belles of this Open Studio that shows their spaces and working processes to the audience and communicates with them. Furthermore, we expect that this event will become the festival that shows the distinctive features of Geumcheon. Ultimately, we hope that this event will be the space that can communicate with the community and attract voluntary participation from it.

THE FALL, THE CRASH, THE SERIES_The Fall (advance copy) , Video/Documentary , Duration: 25 min 40 sec

Format: Color video,  2016
Crashes Without Interval ,Dimenssion variable ,2016

The Fall (advance copy) and Crashes without Interval are two artworks included in The Fall, The Crash, The Series, and they showcase the artist’s attempt to use different approaches to interpret and respond to the phenomenon of digital industrial globalization in today’s world. Editing and collaging images of plane crashes, recycled materials,

Foxconn workers jumping off of the company’s building, Chen-Yu CHEN uses the metaphor of falling to question one of the greatest belief systems in our contemporary society, which has to do with how capitalism is vanquishing spatial barriers and has accelerated the formation of the new order for labor time and energy. Using the technique of image developing, the found images are fixed on aluminum plates, which reflect the accelerated speed that the contemporary society is facing, particularly in regards to compressed space and materiality. At the same time, the artwork also shows Chen’s own response to the images. Small models of a large production system or fabricated monuments of layers of logistic flow that have lost its purpose are presented (or are temporarily arranged)
in the artworks of this series.

CHAIR FORTIFICATION _Color Video, Duration: 8 min 30 sec, 2014THIS EVENT WILL BE LIVE STREAMED !!! at Bains Connective, Brussels, Belgium, 2014

How do we participate through the absence from the scene? How does scenes function from locations to everyone’s screen? Through strategies of re-enactment, “Chair Fortification” reconstructs one of the icons form 318 student protest in Taiwan and brings out questions about social participation through electronic technology. Being physically absent from the event, how can participants extend and transform the experience through

aesthetic? The form and strategy have been carried as a delayed residue from the protest, moving in and out of various spaces. Thinking of locality, real-time and delay participation, and Internet memes, this video work is in conversation with tactical strategy of functionality and aesthetical decision in between social and exhibited spaces.

- 2014 Discover Watermill Day, at Watermill Center, New York United States

performance documentarion; at Watermill Center Summer Gala _ “One Thousand Nights and One Night | Sleepless Nights of Sheherazade”

In this performance/installation piece, performers repeat one single action with different experiments of body movements. Through these experiments, performers explore body’s relationship with materials(pipe) and space, in response to drawing and dancing. Performers follow a score; “Keep the pipe with a certain angle, the angle associate with your height. Navigate through this space created by material, body and gravity, and leave a line of yarn on the ground as a drawing of map.” The action is at the blurry boundary between choreography and performance. Performers repeat this staged action, a hybrid form of dance, sculpture and drawing. There is a very interior and contained quality in the relationship between the performer and the pipe. This relationship creates a continuous enclosed space between the woods, and the yarns compress and flatten these spaces down on the ground. This line
is a trace of a point in motion, formed by various angle at different time. These series of
repeated action become a drawing, an insertion of a spider-web like line into time and three-dimensional space at this site. The continuous movements, the gravity on material and body, and the trace of line, the elements in this performance piece are in conversation with dance, drawing, and map making.

The video is in response to energy, image, and the performative motion in production. The imagination of images and natural resources stimulates production as well as performance with the actions of spinning, compressing and shooting, which transform energy and shapes in different spaces and media. The video is to discuss how these motions of performative productivity respond to the making as well as receiving of images.

CHICAGO COMPOSITION n500e100 _ Video Installation , Material: video projection, mirror, 2012documentation of the video installation

Inspired by the musicians Steve Reich, and historian and social theorist Michel de Certeau, “Chicago Composition n500e100” is a video installation that experiments with composing people’s movements in the city through video. Downtown Chicago is an interesting area with its layers. Boats on Chicago River, pedestrians on Riverwalk, cargo
truck in Lower Wecker, to Chicago El, the elevated train, these elements form a wave in vertical.
In the installation, video projection is deconstructed by mirror’s reelections, and the common used of square video format is broken into dispersed elements.

The video installation plays with pedestrian’s movements, and turns them into notes and sentences. By using mirrors to deconstruct the moving image, the vertical and horizontal movements start repeat in rhyme and appear in different sections of the installation. If urban plan is to have a steady and smooth flow of the city, this installation bring up another possibility to view this mobility. It tunes the speed and let the \movements and city’s infrastructure to meet in various forms and phases, a different way how the city sounds in image.

El Juego de la Hiena_Instalation, video, photo, 2017

“El Juego de la Hiena” is presented as a set of pieces that deal with the idea of travel, the risks that occur during it, the catches, reach a well, the return to the point of origin and the possibility of not being able to return to it.The work is based on a primitive board game known as "Li'b El Merabif" (Hyena Chase), a pastime of subSaharan origin that gathers the reality of the tribes and clans denominated Baggara, society of Sub sahariana Africa.

Belonging to the family of games known as "Tâb" (whose common characteristic is the mechanics based on races with catches), the pastime tells some of the daily life of the nomadic life of this population. Among other allegories, the course on the board represents how long and dangerous the journey of the mothers to the well in search of water, and then return the village, keeping the precaution of not falling into the jaws  of the
carnivorous mammal. Starting from this base, the project appropriates the game
with the intention of giving metaphorical form tothe routes that, from different points of the center and north of Africa are transited by subjects that try to arrive at
Europe, trying to take like access one of its main Doors: the autonomous city of Ceuta.
Spanish territory that functions as a well of people, where the mafias and the
government become the hyenas of the board.

The Synchro Rave. _Instalation, 2016

"The Synchro Rave" is an artistic research project comprised of a video performance, an installation, a series of happenings and performative conference. Taking as a starting point Donna Summer and Kraftwerk, "The Synchro Rave" is a project that seeks to narrate two concrete facts in the history of dance music and its relationship to
violence in sport:

1. The "Disco Demolition Night", which occurred in July 1979, where antidisco groups
motivated by hatred of the popular genre of the 70s, became a sporting event in one of the largest police altercations' held in a field where music became the target and
 the protagonist.

2. The second summer of love (1988), the summer of ecstasy and acid house. Context where for the first time, the British hooligans from different football clubs were
not fighting, they embraced and declared their unconditional love for each other,
thanks to the feeling of well being that generated them MDMA. The project aims to give visibility to own ironies and contradictions of both events, with a brief historical journey through electronic music from 1976 to 1988.

The Synchro Speech. _Video 7'16'', 2016

The Synchro Rage. _Happening, 2016

Go West To The Arsenal_Vídeo. 1'07'', 2016

Go west is a song from the musical group Village People (1979), popularized in 1983
following a cover by the British group Pet Shop Boys.The song has a political character, making references to the Soviet Union in its pet shop boys's original video,and for the inclusion of notes that sound like the Soviet anthem. It is considered a call to extend the communist system on the west.

On the other hand, some people see in the song, an expression of a feeling towards the Californian city of San Francisco as a utopia of sexual liberation movement of the time. Today "Go West" has become for many football fans and hooligans,in a soccer chant. Currently dozens of teams have appropriated the song as part of their
repertoire of songs, the most notable of these "One-nil to the Arsenal".

One issue that is considered one of the greatest hymns of the LGBT culture,
appropriated by hooligans and fans of one of the most sexist
and homophobic sports of the contemporary era."Go West To The Arsenal" shows a dialogue between the original lyrics of the song, and the rebuilt's song audio.

At the same time, a hooligan with the severed head,
moves the chest to the rhythm of the tune, an image that seeks to build an eroticism
and also a display of manliness led to the absurd.

Terrain d'Action. _Instalation + 5 happening. Palais de Tokyo, París, 2015

Terrain d' Action
Reconstructed football field.

Territory for the realization of different happenings with the intention of inviting viewers to a series of playful actions that make you empower space and help rethink the regulatory territory and ruled the pitch. A Field of Action to transform the idea of football, questioning, rebuild their territory rules and negotiate with others present.

During the exhibition days a total of five hapenings were made, open to citizen participation:
1. Peinture d'Action
Event that served to define the field. With sprays and paint cars, attendees could intervene

Mise en Abyme-Placed into Abyss_Wood, mirrors, plasterVideo: http://tinyurl.com/zms886y

In repetition I find rhythm, and with rhythm come the regular, the alternating, the flowing and the progressive. If we think about the world as a pyramid scheme, mirrored, multiplied, and rotated 90 degrees, then we get a full spectrum of all humanity, blurring the starting point, and merging hierarchies. At the heart of it all is the human being, the individual as a single entity. The individual becomes various individuals, yet still viewed as a single entity with respect to the spatial axis. Investigating the core, zooming in, zooming out, the macro and the micro, exposes the differences of the same thing.

The container is an experimental experience of materials, objects and artefacts.
The track is a compilation of sounds, changing with pace, rhythm, and tempo.
The performance is improvised, the sounds are improvised, the objects are present, the container is the experience.

Ojo Estelar_Project in collaboration with the Museo Comunitario del Valle de Xico, Chalco, Mexico, 2015

When in Mexico, during summer 2015, I met Genaro Amaroltamirano, the director of the Community Museum of the Xico valley in Chalco, on the outskirts of Mexico City.
Together with other locals, Genaro set up a self-run museum in Chalco that collects pre-Colombian artefacts people find throughout the area that would otherwise be lost.
When I visited the museum with Genaro, one particular statuein the collection caught
my eye, El mirador del cielo, which shows an ancient Aztec observing the sky.
When I mentioned this toGenaro he told me an interesting story. Some time before, he and an archaeologist, had discovered the tomb of an ancient astronomer. In the
tomb they found a stone placed at ground level, and a round water basin, which
acted as a mirror to reflect the night time sky, a kind of pre-cinema. Unfortunately, the community did not have the necessary funds to restore the tomb and were
forced to reseal it. Therefore, together with the Xico’s Museum, we decided
to design some prototypes to reproduce diverse “Ojo Estelar”.

The prototypes will be placed in the Xico Community Museumgarden in Chalco
and then, in Italy.

To each weather graph has been superimposed the tonal scale of its assigned
instrument. Each note is one day. I assigned musical value of 1/8 to each day.  Spring is a dynamic melody, full of quick changes, diversified; Summer is dynamic as
well but more mature. It turns suddenly into Fall, which has a softer tone,
dark and perhaps melancholic, which then mingles into the dull Winter
time, which in the end is slowly revived. It is interesting to note that the weather
data of one year, in order to acquire meaning in the language of music,
is reduced to a much shorter time, about two minutes. This experiment
seems to suggest that natural phenomena, in their synergy, following some harmonic
 laws.

The complex “Variation on Fruit Basket” after Caravaggio by Elisa Strinna crosses
one of the most represented genders and famous masterpieces in the art history,
as a hidden witness of a peculiar contemporary canon which quotes a modern classicism. The observation of the variety of tropical fruits within a
roman market in 2011 has induced a series of reflections which keep on
taking shape into theinstallation “On Still Life”. Each element competes to outline a
sophisticated hypertext which bounces across different media, times and languages:  the biological system and the industrial one, nature and culture,  the wilderness and the serial, the identity and the stereotype, our world and its
representation interweave constantly showing a fundamental dualism. The fruit phenomenology and its particular evolution in relation to society throughout the
centuries, hints to a progressive artificiality of the natural/ancestral component,
ending itself, as a climax, into a globalized and disheartened reproductive
organism which risks to preserve its simulacrum only.

Latent Cartographies_9 Cartografie Latenti, performance;  2 actors were reading once a day for 18 minutes,
collection Fondazione MAXXI; 2014, Open Museum, Open City, MAXXI, Rome;

“Latent Cartographies” is a project that has been developed for Narrazioni,
a performances cycle dedicated to storytelling, during the exhibition
Open Museum, Open City curated by Hou Hanru. The Flaminio district
-where MAXXI is located- is home to several building complexes that perfectly reflect a
twentieth century and contemporary aesthetic. The area was mainly redeveloped after the Second World War, and the Olympic Villageis one of its gems. The complex, in the purest rationalist style, can be seen as a symbol of the city’s desire to attain the new modernity of post-war development.Writings of Le Corbusier, Luigi Moretti,
Pier Luigi Nervi - the architects who inspired, imagined and built the Villaggio Olimpico
complex- intermingle with depositions of local inhabitants about their experience of
those architectures. The architects writings and the inhabitants depositions are
funneled in two different dialogs that overlap and alternate turning into a narrative map which questions the values of modernity, as well as of collective space and
the community.

The Artist’s Profession addresses the complex issue of the artist’s craft and
the ambivalence with which works of art are greeted; some consider them
to be the ultimate expression of the human spirit and others as simply a commodity. Inspired by the physical location of Incontri Internazionali d’Arte in Rome – an archive and library – the intervention uses for its material some statements uttered
by different famous artists over the centuries, gathered in the library’s books.
The statements were chosen for their lyrical intensity and
their ability to express the artists’ thoughts about art and life.  The performance consists of several parts: two performers read the texts selected while a third
voice in the background reads quotations assigned to various artworks during auctions
at Sotheby’s andChristie’s.

24 Sinfonie Sisimche _Studio for music translation, Lorca Earthquake of 2011, 45 x 25 cm, cotton paper and ink, 2013

The symphonies proposed in the project have somewhat peculiar origins: they in
fact come to life from the translation of graphic tracks into a sound track. The graphic tracks in question are made up by copies of seismograms recorded during
some earthquakes that have taken place around the world. Seismograms
are translated into music by a sculpture instrument, half a seismograph
and half a barrel organ. The organ plays through holes practiced on paper.
Adapting the documents to the instrument score, holes have been drilled on the waves’ peaks. Translating the seismogram in the organ score, the larger the
amplitude of recorded waves, the more the seismogram covers the full tonal scale
played by the barrel organ.Seismic Symphonies is also a symbolic inversion:
the instrument of the organ is most commonly used in churches, and its
sounds are derived from the heavens and symbolize cosmic harmony. But
here it is the earth,“nature”, the ground beneath our feet that
is moving. It speaks to us not of harmony, but of our fragility, undermining
our fantasy of

Apple Girl _18-19-20 Apple Girl, video frames, SD, 9 min, 2011;

In the video kings and queens in the Apple Girl story, transcribed by Calvino, have
been replaced by representatives of the contemporary bourgeois world. The fairy tale re-enactment tells us about a women - who can not have children until she is reconciled
with her natural side giving births to an apple – and about a man competing
with nature, obsessed by the desire to recreate what exist better then nature it-self. These two worlds get in contact and the “piece of fruit” born by the woman exceeds
the results of male ambitions. For the collector and his wife the apple becomes a “ natural echo”, that awakes impulses excluded by their social class behaviour.
